The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured the general public that all qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.
In a press release issued by the Public Relations Unit of the GES Headquarters on 14th May, 2026, Management congratulated all Junior High School graduates on the successful completion of the BECE and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring access to secondary education for every qualified student.
According to the statement, comprehensive preparations and arrangements have been made to admit fresh students into Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide beginning 18th September, 2026. The Service emphasized that every effort has been made to guarantee that all qualified candidates gain admission into schools.
GES also dismissed reports circulating in sections of the media claiming that about 72,000 students risk not being placed in schools. Management described such reports as speculative and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.
The statement further noted that adequate infrastructure and facilities are available to accommodate all qualified students across the country. Management assured stakeholders that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system will not negatively affect students’ access to secondary education.
Rather, GES explained that the transition is intended to improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access to education for all students.
The Ghana Education Service reiterated its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on all stakeholders to support the collective national objective of strengthening education in the country.
